Happy Bissextile Day

In case you weren’t aware, today is leap year day. If you were born on this day four years ago, you are now one. Crazy to think that this day only happens once ever four years. We should all do something special on a day like today, something that we wouldn’t usually do. Something out of the ordinary. So far today I’ve taken my car into the shop to get the 60k service done to it, it’ll cost around $650….so, that’s out of the ordinary. I’m hoping for a more interesting and fun out of the ordinary. Let me know if you come up with anything good.

What’s been on my mind lately is just how much things can change in four years, or even in two years. This has been the week full of blasts from the past. Past friends, past coworkers…etc. This last week I’ve spent time with four different friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. I think back in their lives and wonder at the changes they’ve been through. One was about to get married, now he and his wife are 8 months pregnant. Another was living happily with her husband and two kids, now she’s excited about her divorce. My third friend was single four years ago and now she’s been married for two years and has a 18 month old kid! My ‘last but not least’ friend was also single with no bills and a low paying job, now he’s making more money then ever, but is broke, trying to raise a 16 month old kid and pay for a house.

Ebb and flow, change and grow.

Driving in the car last night what hit me was how much things can change whether we control it or not. If I were to go back four years and tell these friends what was going to happen in less than five year, I think a couple of them wouldn’t have been able to concieve it. It’s true that at every moment we’re creating and changing. I’ve been fascinated about how little decisions will turn into big outcomes. It excites and scares the crap outta me at the same time. We’d like to think that we’re in control, but that’s not always the case since our lives intertwine and constantly mix with the ultimate unpredictability factor…other people.

Four years ago I was working a low paying inventory job, technically single, fat and frustrated about my direction in life. Now I’m a tiny bit more financially sound, have a job I like, not single, skinnier and doing my best to take each day as it comes. I have goals and dreams for the future, but really I don’t know where I’ll be in four years. Do you?

How does this happen?

This is directed to people out there that know anything about fabric and clothes. Please look at the picture below and explain to me how this happens? This is one of my favorite new shirts and out of nowhere I slip it on and notice there is a freakin’ puncture hole in the chest area of my shirt! I just got this shirt and have only been washed it a handful of times! The worst part is that the hole is big enough to let some of my little chest hairs escape and spring forth like wild grass in a springtime meadow. I know my sexy chest hair turns on many of the ladies but I like to keep it under wraps, otherwise they’d tear into this puncture hole and ruin my whole shirt. Does anyone know what causes this? I also have two puncture holes side-by-side in my pajama pants. It looks like a small rodent with fangs bit into my pants.
