All done

Last night was the third and final night of our Lord of the Rings-athon held over at Jake’s house. We spread it out over three days which was just fine with me since we were watching the extended versions. I really enjoyed it alot. There didn’t seem to be too many new scenes in the first movie but in the last two there were noticably new scenes which made the whole story fit alot better. One scene that stands out that was added is how Saruman dies. In the theater all you see is Pip finding his glass ball, but in the extended scenes you actually see his death. To me it seemed silly to leave it out, since he was evil everyone would rejoice in him dying and otherwise it just leaves a loose end. Another notably added scene was when the mouth of Sauron came out to talk to Aragorn and the others. Blech! Icky, his mouth was so big it reminded me of Karin’s!

One thing that I noticed during the first movie is that the names of everything are too similar. I recalled why I had such a hard time remembering anyone’s names after walking out of the theater. Names like Gondor, Mordor, Sauron, Saruman, Borimir, Faramir, the shire…etc. I had trouble in the theater remembering who was good and bad, but I think I got it down now. Anyways it was a successful event and Jake and Dave’s stadium seating worked out awesome.

Here’s some fav quotes:

Boromir:What is this new devilry?

Legolas:The stars are veiled. Something stirs in the East. A sleepless malice. The eye of the enemy is moving. He is HERE.

King of the Dead: The dead do not suffer the living to pass.
Aragorn: You will suffer me.
